High energy emissions from gamma-ray bursts

چکیده
Gamma-ray bursts are the brightest transient sources of MeV γ-rays in the sky and are the leading candidate sources of the GZK cosmic rays. Physical conditions required to accelerate elementary particles to such high energies also, inevitably, lead to expected TeV energy γ-ray and neutrino emission from these sources. Although γ-rays of energy only up to 18 GeV have been detected from a few bursts, upcoming spaceand ground-based detectors will probe these sources in the GeV-TeV energy range revealing their particle acceleration and emission mechanism(s) as well as constraining their astrophysical model(s).

Cosmological Flashes from Rotating Black Holes
Current phenomenology suggests the presence of a compact baryon-poor energy source to cosmological gamma-ray bursts reacting to high-density matter. The association of short and long gamma-ray bursts with hyper-and suspended accretion onto slowly and rapidly spinning black holes predicts weak X-ray af-terglow emissions from short bursts, as in GRB050509B and GRB050709. Long gamma-ray bursts are...
متن کاملPeak Energy–Isotropic Energy Relation in the Off-Axis Gamma-Ray Burst Model
Using a simple uniform jet model of prompt emissions of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), we reproduce the observed peak energy–isotropic energy relation. A Monte Carlo simulation shows that the low isotropic energy part of the relation is dominated by events viewed from off-axis directions, and the number of the off-axis events is about one-third of the on-axis emissions. We also compute the observed e...

Synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) process in the reverse shocks of gammaray bursts is suggested to be responsible for the observed prompt highenergy gamma-ray emissions from several gamma-ray bursts. We find that the SSC emission from the reverse shocks dominates over other emission processes in energy bands from tens of MeV to tens of GeV, for a wide range of shock parameters. This model is favor...

It is now well established that both thunderclouds and lightning routinely emit x-rays and gamma-rays. These emissions appear over wide timescales, ranging from submicrosecond bursts of x-rays associated with lightning leaders, to sub-millisecond bursts of gamma-rays seen in space called terrestrial gamma-ray flashes, to minute long glows from thunderclouds seen on the ground and in or near the...
متن کاملEffects of Cosmic Infrared Background on High Energy Delayed Gamma-rays from Gamma-ray Bursts
Regenerated high energy emissions from gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are studied in detail. If the primary emission spectrum extends to TeV range, these very high energy photons will be absorbed by the cosmic infrared background (CIB). The created high energy electron-positron pairs up-scatter not only cosmic microwave background (CMB) photons but also CIB photons, and secondary photons are generated...
